Hi, I'm Donna with A1 Forklift. Today I'm going to be demonstrating a daily pre-trip inspection on a forklift.
2
Step 2 of 28
OSHA requires that a daily inspection be performed on every single piece of equipment that's operated daily.
3
Step 3 of 28
What we're going to do is we're going to start here with the right front fork. What we're looking for are weld breaks.
4
Step 4 of 28
Next we're going to look at our front tire and what we're looking for are chunks of rubber that are missing from the tire.
5
Step 5 of 28
Moving on we're going to look at our piston to ensure we don't have any leaks or drips.
6
Step 6 of 28
We'll look at our hydraulic hoses to ensure we don't have any punctures or cuts.
7
Step 7 of 28
We're going to make sure the tension of our chain is nice and tight.
8
Step 8 of 28
Looking at the carriage of our forklift, what we're looking for are weld breaks.
9
Step 9 of 28
Checking to see that our seat belt is in good repair. Looking at our rear tire, again looking to make sure you don't have any chunks of rubber removed from your tire.
10
Step 10 of 28
Moving on to the rear of your forklift, you're going to check the propane tank to ensure that it's on nice and tight and not loose.
11
Step 11 of 28
Next we're going to look in our radiator to ensure we haven't picked up any debris or trash.
12
Step 12 of 28
Moving on to the left side of our forklift, we're going to check our tire, looking for missing rubber.
13
Step 13 of 28
We're going to check our carriage, looking for weld breaks.
14
Step 14 of 28
We're now back at our front tire, again looking for missing rubber.
15
Step 15 of 28
Checking our piston to make sure we don't have any leaks or drips.
16
Step 16 of 28
Checking our hydraulic hose, looking for punctures and cuts.
17
Step 17 of 28
And checking to make sure our chain is nice and tight.
18
Step 18 of 28
We're back where we started, so now we're checking our left fork, making sure we don't have any weld breaks.
19
Step 19 of 28
We'll now get on the forklift to make sure that our emergency brake is working correctly.
20
Step 20 of 28
When entering the forklift, we always have three points of contact.
21
Step 21 of 28
Wearing a seat belt is not left to the discretion of the operator, it must be worn 100% of the time.
22
Step 22 of 28
I'm now going to put my foot on the brake, I'm going to turn the forklift on, I'm going to put it in forward gear.
23
Step 23 of 28
I'm going to take my foot off the brake. If your forklift doesn't move forward and stays in its position, your attention on your emergency brake is perfect.
24
Step 24 of 28
I'm going to check my controls, everything seems to be in good repair.
25
Step 25 of 28
I'm going to put my foot back on the brake, I'm going to put my forklift in neutral, I'm going to set my emergency brake, I'm going to turn it off.
26
Step 26 of 28
This concludes our inspection.
27
Step 27 of 28
After inspecting, if any item is found to be unsafe or needing repair, the forklift needs to be taken out of service, red tagged, until repaired.
